A Floating Home for My Writing Muse

The Eastlake neighborhood is known for having the most desirable floating homes in Seattle. Lake Union's eastern shore has about 290 floating homes across 27 docks.

Our home is called "Mi Sueno," my dream. It is my muse, and is featured in the short story I wrote for the "Landless in Seattle" anthology.

The original house with its slanted walls, reminding me of a New England lighthouse (I was born and raised in Connecticut), was kept intact. A second level addition is my writing studio, and, although "contemporary" is modeled after traditional lighthouse outbuildings.

A modern wooden frame surrounds the new with the old "arm-like," holding the two structures tightly together in an affectionate embrace. An authentic antique lighthouse light is perched on its renovated upper deck.
